Economic Crisis & Travelling in China

Monthly meeting. Nothing special except the very last piece of advice by the President: "Dress down when you travel to China for work."

With the financial crisis affecting businesses in China, alot of toy factories in the Southern China region have closed down, leaving many workers out of work. Some of these workers were owed months' of salaries and have no means of paying for transport back to their hometown. Many of these migrant workers were unable to make their way home earlier this year because of the snowstorms and now they are penniless, jobless and extremely homesick.

So what happens when people become desparate? They resort to extreme means to get what they want. Extreme in this case means robbing, stealing and plundering. And with Chinese New Year slightly more than 2 months away, some of these people might become real desparate real fast...

Its always a shame when honest people are forced into illegal means through no real fault of theirs...

Life bites... and alot of people are in really bad shape these days.
