SKYPE WiFi Phone

Been surfing around the net for details on SKYPE. Been thinking of getting the people back in SG to learn how to use some sort of video conference or web chat applications to save some money on the phone bills. Not that we care since our phone bills are covered by the company but its not nice to be topping the charts...

Finally found an ideal solution to my problem(s). The SKYPE WiFi Phone from Netgear is a WiFi phone... a WiFi phone that will allow you to make SKYPE calls when you have wireless internet connection. Its good for old folks and offices with abundant WiFi coverage but stringent rules on internet access on office desktop PCs...

So if you have not-so-IT-savvy-people and would like to be in contact with them all the time even through they are in a totally different time zone, maybe you would like to get them one of these. And while you're at it you might as well fix up their home wireless network...

oh I've been soooo wanting to test out the 3 Skype phone, but I can't bring it back to Singapore - it works only on 3 networks in HK, UK etc. Have been itching to buy the rechargeable 3Skype phone pack ever since I went to HK, but not many friends/family are on Skype, so...shelved the plan.

Anyway the 1st gen Skype phone that's avail in HK has been the butt of quite some complaints, saw reports of the 2nd gen Skype phone released in UK, but not yet in HK. Have you checked that out too?

Read up a bit on the 3 Skype Phones but the amount of complaints they are getting, especially on the customer service end, is really a major concern.

If I want Skype on the go, I will probably install Skype for Windows Mobile since I am using a HTC Diamond, or Skype on PSP~
