Book Review: The 5 Types of Wealth

After Die With Zero, The 5 Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom was the next book I read. I felt both books complimented each other pretty well, both emphazing that monetary wealth is just a tool, and not a destination in our life.

Since reading this book, I've found a level of drive in reconnecting with my friends from secondary school, as well as placed a much higher priority on my physical well-being. Time and Mental Wealth still eludes me but I guess it will take some time...

Summary by ChatGPT:

Sahil Bloom outlines 5 types of wealth to help people rethink what it truly means to be "rich." His framework goes beyond just money and focuses on living a deeply fulfilling life. Here's a summary:

💰 1. Financial Wealth – "Money"

  • The most obvious kind.

  • Gives you freedom of choice, security, and access.

  • But money alone isn't enough—it’s a tool, not the destination.

🕰 2. Time Wealth – "Freedom"

  • The ability to spend your time how you want, with whom you want.

  • Many wealthy people lack this.

  • Time > money if you have to trade your life to earn it.

🏋️ 3. Physical Wealth – "Health"

  • Fitness, energy, strength, longevity.

  • No amount of money can buy back lost health.

  • A strong body enhances your ability to enjoy life and experiences.

👥 4. Social Wealth – "Relationships"

  • Deep connections, love, reputation, community.

  • Who shows up for you when things fall apart?

  • True wealth is found in authentic relationships.

🧠 5. Mental Wealth – "Peace of Mind"

  • Clarity, purpose, resilience, emotional stability.

  • You can be rich and still suffer mentally.

  • The ultimate wealth is inner peace.

🧩 Final Thought:

“A truly wealthy life is a balance of all five types of wealth.”
– Sahil Bloom

So, don’t just chase the bank balance—build a life that’s rich in time, health, relationships, and peace.
